Heartburn

About- Heartburn, also known as acid indigestion is a burning sensation in the chest, just behind the breastbone and can from a few minutes to a few hours.
 
Symptoms-
  • Burning pain in the chest
  • A burning sensation in the throat
  • Bitter or acidic taste in the mouth
  • Chest pain when we bend over or lay down
  • Difficulty swallowing
 
Causes-
Heartburn occurs when stomach acid backs up back up into the esophagus, the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. Probable factors are
  • Acid reflux
  • Constipation
  • Consumption of caffeine, chocolate, or alcohol
  • Hiatal hernia
  • Intake of spicy foods
  • Lying down immediately after eating
  • Obesity
  • Pregnancy
  • Side effects of certain medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen
  • Smoking
